All balls must start with King Kong

But to this disco will he make it along

At the very least he will be very late

Stuck as he is atop Empire State

Vampires stare making their eyes sore

Failing in attempts to check make up in the mirror

Still their chances of a memorable night hang slim

Dependent on someone at the party to invite them in

Werewolves scent their best smell

All body hair styled under layers of gel

Best chinos totally ripper asunder

The wonder of a moon a spell puts them under

Zombies neck their bloody pimms

Their dancing all dislocated limbs

They chant along to the musical refrain

“Insane in the membrane, insane in the brrraaiiiinnnsss!”

Ghosts unconcerned about no invite or call

Simply bypass the door through the outer wall

At the end of the night themselves they find

Flashing due to being three sheets to the wind

Hobgoblins are full on the pull

The snog goblins Lynx Africa full

Using all their best gobliny chat up lines

Yet like a maxed-out credit card, all advances declined

At the back of the hall the mosher scarecrow

His tangly hair he let especially grow

Donned the best carrot nose he’s got

Hid dancing thwarted being rooted to the spot

Crashing the party through the roof

Size five thousands stepping on revellers hooves

The Kaiju bopper Godzilla

Demanding records all killa no filla

Medusa finds herself dancing alone

Staring longingly at her date, turning them to stone

Asking the all wight DJ to change the track

Picking up her marble partner to Paint It Black

The monster hunters arrive to stop the party

Yet the gothic beats make them feel hearty

Only fair way to clear the room

A breakdance off to a Thriller of a tune

Exhausted all spill into the chilling night

All told, the Vincent Price was right
