Anne-Marie the time travelling spider

The greatest novice tempus slider

Stepped into her amazing machine opening the temporal gate

Eight arms in unison pressing buttons for the allotted date

The viewing window threw up a blinding flash

Anne-Marie had landed somewhere in the past

And where was it that Anne-Marie has let herself go

Where people threw their poo out of the window

Where the privateers made their boats much harder

In order to defeat the Spanish Armada

Everyone was walking around looking more than a little ruff

Anne-Marie decided of this she had seen enough

Where now had Anne/-Marie landed?

People fed up of not everything being even handed

Riot was in the air, Anne-Marie could smell the stench

The revolution was coming, only said in French.

People tired of being told to eat cake to make for a lack of bread

Large wooden structures were coming for the wealthy’s head

This new place she landed looked to have much worth

Enlightened Italians and their quest for rebirth

The place was alive Anne-Marie was feeling

With artists enjoying painting the ceilings

Hearing names that reminded Anne-Marie of Turtles

She liked it here and yet to a new place t’was time to hurtle

What place was this now where women had judgement harshly met

And likelihood was they were going to get very wet

All for having understanding of nature, lore and feeling

To help the needy with some advanced ideas on healing

Truly this appeared to be a dark age

Full of thoughts a long way from sage

And the next jump took Anne-Marie to Women still suffering

Any chances of fairness taking a buffering

Stuck to railings for their important cause

Throwing themselves in front of a galloping horse

And for all the time Anne-Marie had jumped ahead

The idea of equality still seemed pretty close to dead

Time travel had given Anne-Marie understanding of present

Of what went before setting the precedent

She knew how some things changed yet stayed the same

How some would always look to pass on the blame

And yet no matter how much people tried to deride her

It was time for the world to listen to a time traveling spider

With this gained experience to share she would help the world be better

But first she must stop herself getting much wetter

Anne-Marie worked out the date she needed

Just after the time she wished she’d heeded

She keyed in the date she knew she must choose

Took a quick deep breath, she must not lose

This was the exact point that she must delve

To get back to the time to save herself

Anne-Marie looked down on the ceramic dyke

Seeing features that looked more than a little alike

Quickly she sent down a silken rope

Just in time before both Anne-Maries lost hope

With a little effort her companion was up and alive

Celebrating with a hug and eight high fives

And now dear reader I know what you’re thinking

How did she build a time machine from a bath sinking?

That’s a tale for another day that I must doll

Because that contains a whole new (plot) hole

But this entire story hasn’t been a blunder

Some things are best unexplained and left to magic and wonder
